Reciprocal Roof Project: Tweedledee, Tweedledew, and the Learning Curve Part 1

Yo, what’s up, everyone? Today, we’re at my buddy’s place, diving into a unique project – a reciprocal roof. Now, let me tell you, this roof design involves a mind-boggling number of angles, making it a real challenge. Our strategy? Build it on the ground, take it apart, and then piece it together on the building.

This video takes you through the motions of setting everything up and dialing in those tricky angles to ensure the structure supports itself as intended. It’s a trial-and-error process, featuring the dynamic duo of Tweedledee and Tweedledew – and, of course, my wife, who joins in the mix.

We built it, took it down, built it again, took it down once more – you get the picture. Then, we tackled the task of cutting the angles, only to realize it needed adjustments as it settled. It was a learning curve, a big one. Would I do it again? Well, the jury’s still out on that. But here’s the deal: We’re definitely going to do it again because the main house is next on the list.

My buddy wisely chose to experiment with the design on his utility building first, ironing out the kinks before diving into a larger version on his main house. The learning curve is substantial, but with each iteration, it’s getting smoother.

This video captures our laughter, unexpected moments, and the overall camaraderie of tackling a unique DIY project. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey as we navigate the world of reciprocal roofs.

And hey, pay attention – because who knows, you might just catch an idea or two for your next project. Thanks for tuning in, and stay tuned for more adventures. Peace out!

Buddy asked me to lend a couple hands to putting a roof on his utility building. Gladly! Talk a little in the beginning the rest is all goofing around
