Hey there, folks! What’s going on? As the title suggests, we’ve just bought a property, and in this video, I’m going to spill the beans on the loves, hates, and fears we have for this exciting new venture. Stick around for the journey!
Let’s kick things off with the loves. First and foremost, the connection to nature is undeniable. Just take a look at the breathtaking views from the back of my trailer on my buddy’s property. The feeling of being close to nature is something I’ve missed, and this property brings it back to the forefront. Second, it’s all about the people. Unlike the impersonal nature of big city living, here, there’s a genuine sense of community where people care about each other. It’s a refreshing change that we’re eager to embrace. And third, the challenge. We’ve decided to take on the challenge of self-building the entire property, excluding drilling the well and installing the septic. It’s an extreme challenge, a potential relationship builder, and a venture we believe will pay off with hard work.
Now, onto the one hate we’ve encountered so far – the buying process. From issues with the realtor to the seller’s realtor, and even the seller themselves providing inaccurate information about the property boundaries, it’s been a rollercoaster. But hey, we made it through, and now it’s time for the real work to begin.
Quick pause: drop a comment below if you’re digging the format of this video. Should I make this a regular thing, perhaps every Friday? Let me know, and maybe we can call it Philosophy Fridays. Oh, yeah!
Now, let’s dive into the fears. Water is a big one. While we plan to drill a well, what if we don’t hit water? It’s a potential hurdle that could impact the entire process. Another fear is halfway abandonment. My wife worries that we might reach a point where it feels like enough is enough, but I believe determination will see us through. And of course, the ever-looming concern of costs going over the expected budget. Striking a balance between investing wisely and keeping expenses in check is crucial.
So, what are the next steps? The real work begins with surveying the land and cutting a road to access the property. Without these initial steps, we can’t dive into the exciting stuff.
