Finding the Perfect Water Dispenser for Our Feathered Friends: A Poultry Care Journey

Keeping chickens hydrated and happy is a top priority for any poultry enthusiast. However, finding the right water dispenser that meets both the needs of our chickens and the ease of use for us can be a challenge. In our quest for the perfect solution, we explored several options, leading to some interesting discoveries and a clear winner in our books.

The Original Water Dispenser: A Missed Mark Our journey began with a traditional water dispenser purchased from Tractor Supply Co. (TSC), which quickly proved to be less than ideal. The design made it difficult to refill, requiring more muscle and patience than we anticipated. It was clear we needed a better solution.

Enter Harris Farms Poultry Watering Cup In search of an alternative, we came across the Harris Farms poultry watering cup. Its design seemed promising, with a simple peck-to-drink system. While some of our more curious chickens adapted to it, it wasn’t a universal success. The quest for the perfect water dispenser continued.

The Struggle with Accessibility Our chickens continued to thrive, but the water dispensers did not live up to our expectations. We experimented with a cup featuring a yellow pecker, which only some chickens could use effectively. The majority struggled, often reverting to the original, cumbersome dispenser.

A New Discovery: The Auto-Fill Solution Determined to find a better solution, we stumbled upon an auto-fill water dispenser that promised a constant water level without the need for pecking. This system, powered by the weight of the water, automatically refills as the chickens drink, ensuring a constant supply of fresh water.

Why We Love the Auto-Fill Cups After testing three different types of water dispensers, the DIY auto-fill cups from Rent A Coop emerged as the clear winner. These cups keep the water clean, require minimal effort from the chickens, and significantly reduce the frequency of refills on our part.

Conclusion: Happy Chickens, Happy Life Our journey to find the perfect water dispenser taught us the importance of not only considering the needs of our poultry but also the convenience of the caretaking process. The Rent A Coop DIY auto-fill cups have made a significant difference in our daily routine, ensuring our chickens are well-hydrated with minimal fuss.

There are several different types of water dispenser for chickens. I initially bought a water dish with legs but I was not happy with it because it was so hard for me to twist open and close. And most of the time, it leaked. Then at local feed store I found a watering cup with yellow trigger. But I was unsure if my chickens are well hydrated with the watering cup.
I researched it online and found “DIY Auto Fill Cup by Rent A Coop” online! I’m a happy camper so as my chickens!! Watch the video and see how it works.

You might get lucky if you buy 2 packs, you may get one extra free cup on house😊
